Does this sound familiar?
- The screen is cracked or won't respond to touch
- It won't charge, or it only charges at certain angles
- Games won't read, or the card slot looks bent
- It runs hot, and the fan is loud or rattling
- Joy-Cons drift or won't stay attached to the rails
How Switches get hurt
A Switch has an unusual life. It's a tablet, a game console and something a seven-year-old takes on a road trip. Screens crack from drops and from sitting on them. Charging ports get bent when a kid plays with the charger plugged in, and third-party docks have damaged plenty of consoles. The card slot catches its share of cracker crumbs, and we've seen some interesting items in there.
What we fix
Screens and digitizers. On the original Switch, the glass and display are separate parts, and on the Lite and OLED models they're different again. We'll explain which yours has.
Charging. Read more on our page about Switch charging ports and docks, including how to work out whether the console or the dock is at fault.
Fans and heat. A rattling or very loud fan is often caused by dust, or by a fan on its way out. When a Switch gets too hot, it can slow down or close your game.
Joy-Cons. Stick drift is the famous one, and we have a page just for that. We can also fix bent rails and buttons that stopped clicking.
Getting it back fast
We get it. When it's the thing that keeps the peace on the drive to Grandma's, you want it back before the weekend. Tell us your timeline when you drop it off and we'll be honest about whether we can make it.
Great experience. Very friendly on the phone and in person. Got my grandson's phone fixed, and within a few hours at a reasonable price. I was trying to hurry and get there before he closed at 6 and he told me to call him if I'm not able to make it there by closing time and that he'd wait. Wow.
Questions we get a lot
Do you repair the Switch Lite and the OLED model?
Yes, along with the original Switch. Call first if you have a Switch 2, as parts for newer consoles can take longer to find and we'll want to talk through what's possible.
Will I lose my games and saved progress?
Most hardware repairs don't affect your saves. If you have a Nintendo Switch Online membership, turn on cloud saves if you can, in case something needs resetting. We'll warn you first if there's a risk.
Should I contact Nintendo first?
For Joy-Con drift, it's worth checking with Nintendo first, since they've repaired drifting Joy-Cons at no charge in North America in the past. For a cracked screen or a damaged port, we can usually help you right here.
My kid stepped on it. Can it be fixed?
Often, yes. Screens, shells and rails can be replaced. Bring it by and we'll tell you what's broken and if it makes sense to fix it.
