Why people hand this off
Phone makers have improved their transfer tools, but things still go sideways. A forgotten password stops everything. A two-factor code goes to the old phone just as you've turned it off. Photos stored only on the old device don't make the trip. Hours later, you still don't have your contacts, and somebody's birthday pictures have gone missing.
We do this a lot, and we check that things actually made it across before you leave. We open your photos, check your contacts, and make sure calls and texts work. The small stuff gets looked at too, like moving your apps around so they're where you expect, and setting the text size so you can read it without your glasses.
A good gift for your parents
Plenty of folks have bought a parent or grandparent a new phone and spent all of Christmas afternoon setting it up. Bring it by together, or send them over to us with the phones. We'll take our time with them, answer their questions and write down anything they'll want to remember. It's the kind of thing we like doing.
Before you trade in your old device
Don't erase, trade in or sell the old phone until you've confirmed everything made it across. Once it's gone, it's gone. And if you're planning to sell it, we buy devices too, and we'll make sure yours gets wiped properly.

Questions we get a lot
What should I bring?
Both devices, their chargers, and your Apple ID or Google password if you know them. If you don't remember those, come in anyway, and we'll work on it. Your phone number and carrier login can be handy too.
Can you move my things from an iPhone to an Android phone?
Yes. Photos, contacts and most messages can move across, though not every app or purchase can come along. We'll tell you up front what will and won't transfer.
Will my texts and photos come along?
Usually, yes. It depends on the devices and on what has been backed up. If there's something you absolutely can't lose, tell us about it first so we can check it specifically.
Can you do this for my mom's new phone?
Happily. If she can come in with you, or if you can be on the phone with us, that helps when there's a password question. We'll be patient and will show her where things are.
Do you help with computers too?
Yes. We can move files from an old computer to a new one, and we'll set up your email and programs. We can even come to your house if that's easier.
