Does this sound familiar?
- A cracked screen or a touch screen that stopped responding
- It won't charge, or the magnetic charger keeps slipping off
- Windows crawls, or it hangs on the logo
- The keyboard cover stopped working
- The battery is swelling and the screen is starting to lift
Why these are different
A Windows tablet runs the same Windows as a laptop, so it can have laptop problems like viruses, failed updates and storage that's filled up. It also has tablet problems like cracked glass and adhesive-sealed batteries. When someone brings one in saying that it's "just slow," we usually check the software first, since it's the simplest thing to fix.
Parts and screens
Surface screens are glued to the body, and the glass is thin, so taking one off without further cracks takes patience. Some Windows tablets from other brands use parts that are hard to find. If that's the situation, we'll tell you before you've spent anything. Sometimes the best answer is moving your files and setting up something new, and we can help with that part as well.
If it's a work device
If your employer or school owns the tablet, check with them first, since they may have their own repair rules or software that restricts what can be done. If it's yours, or it belongs to your own small business, we can also come to you for on-site help.
Fast, friendly great service. Pleasant to work with, knowledgeable and efficient.
Questions we get a lot
Do you repair Microsoft Surface tablets?
Yes. Surface Pro and Go models are what we see most in this category. The screen on many Surface models is glued in, and it takes care, so call with your model and we'll talk it through.
My Surface won't charge. Is it the charger or the tablet?
Surface chargers fail fairly often, and the magnetic tips collect grime. Check for a light on the charger, clean the connector with a dry cloth, and try again. If that doesn't work, bring in the tablet and the charger together.
Can you make my old Windows tablet faster?
Often. A cleanup of startup programs, updates and malware can make a big difference. If it's short on storage, we'll let you know whether that can be helped on your model.
Will I lose my files?
A hardware repair shouldn't touch your files. If it needs a Windows reinstall, we'll talk about backing up first.
