Does this sound familiar?
- It won't charge, or the charger won't stay connected
- The battery lasts a day when it used to last a week
- The display cracked or went blank
- Buttons stopped working, or the touch doesn't respond
- It stopped syncing with your phone
Try this before you bring it in
The most common issue we hear about is a tracker that won't charge, and quite often it's grime on the contacts. Those small gold pads are in constant contact with sweat, sunscreen and skin oils. A gentle cleaning can bring a "dead" tracker back to life. If you've tried that and a different cable and the tracker still won't take a charge, it's time for us to take a look.
What we can do
Bigger GPS watches and sport models tend to be the best repair candidates, since they have more parts available and they cost enough for a repair to make sense. Their batteries wear out after a few years, and replacing them can keep a good watch going for many more runs around the Rum River. Slim bands are a harder call. We'll open up the conversation with what's realistic, and won't charge ahead with a job that doesn't make sense.
If it can't be saved
Your steps and history usually live in your account and not just the device, so buying a new tracker from the same brand will usually pick up where you left off. If you're not sure how to move everything over, we can also help with setting up a new device.
Fast, friendly great service. Pleasant to work with, knowledgeable and efficient.
Questions we get a lot
Can every fitness tracker be repaired?
No, and we'd rather say so up front. Many slim bands are sealed with adhesive and have few available parts. Some larger GPS watches are easier to work on. Call with your model and we'll tell you what we know.
My tracker won't charge. What can I check?
Clean the charging contacts on both the tracker and the cable with a cotton swab and a little rubbing alcohol, then let them dry. Sweat and skin oils build up there and can stop charging. It's often that simple.
It stopped syncing. Does it need a repair?
Probably not. Restart the tracker and your phone, make sure Bluetooth is on, and check for app updates. If it still won't sync, then bring it in with your phone and we can look together.
Is it better to buy a new one?
For a basic band, it often is. For a more expensive GPS watch, a repair may be worth it. We'll tell you which is which for your device.
